Organophilic clay for oil drilling mud
Product Description
Organophilic Clay is an organically modified bentonite used as a gelling and viscosifying agent for primarily diesel-based drilling fluids.
Application/Function
Organophilic Clay is used in the 2-10lb/bbl (5.7-28.5 kg/m3) range depending on the desired viscosity properties, mixing system, and temperature. Higher concentrations are used when preparing spotting fluids, packer fluids or other special systems. Maximum viscosity is normally attained after a complete circulation of the fluid thru the bit, so care must be taken not to over-treat upon initial mixing.
Advantages
Used as a gelling and viscosifying agent
Oil based Material
Increase carrying capacity and suspension properties
Improve cutting removal
